General admission
Admission to the November 19 public evening.
An exhibition, performance program and gathering exploring memory, machines and the future of digital culture.
Presented by Ministry of Next in collaboration with SFU’s Metacreation Lab and Internet Archive Canada.
Inside The Permanent, the servers of Internet Archive Canada preserve fragments of the internet’s past — for one night, brought into direct contact with the systems now generating what comes next.
In computing, defragmentation brings scattered pieces of data back together. DEFRAG extends that idea into culture — gathering artists, researchers, technologists, archivists, performances, moving image and experimental systems into one shared space.
The archive remembers.
The machine dreams.
DEFRAG brings the fragments together.
Curated by Erica Lapadat-Janzen / Ministry of Next. Developed with SFU’s Metacreation Lab and Internet Archive Canada. Supported by the FCAT Knowledge Mobilization Activity Fund.
Full program details, including workshops and the public evening lineup, will be announced closer to the event. Expect screenings, performances, workshops and conversations — exact sessions, participants and times are being finalized.
